One of the most important parts of my job as a makeup artist is understanding that makeup is never ‘one size fits all.’

Everyone has different tastes, comfort levels, and features they love to enhance and those tastes can evolve over time.

I’ve been doing Lydia’s makeup for years, and as her style has refined, so has her makeup preference.

Lydia always has her brows and lashes done religiously and over time we realised she actually prefers very minimal eye makeup. She doesn’t love heavy eyeshadow, liner, or a lot of product under the eyes.
What she does love is skin that looks fresh and glowy.

She naturally has really clear skin, so she doesn’t need heavy coverage. Instead, she likes her undereyes brightened and smoothed, without looking cakey.

For this look we did…

• No foundation
• No “traditional” concealer
• Just a skin tint and an eye brightener

Everything was applied in extremely thin layers, set with luminous powders and finished with a strong-hold setting spray for longevity without heaviness.

And the result is - Flawless, glowing skin that still looks like her. We defined the lips and added juiciness to complete the look.

Understanding exactly what your client wants (and doesn’t want) is key. And that’s why makeup will never be a ‘One look fits all.’
